# Create File

The Create File tool allows the model to generate text-based files. Supported file types include, but are not limited to:

* Code and script files
* CSVs
* PDFs
* Text

If the [Active Directory](/tools/set-active-directory.md) is set, the files will be created in that directory. If the Active Directory is not set, the files will only be accessible within the chat.

To view the contents of a created file, click the ![](/files/QfbNqxGtM7lLwYoFVvEH) button.

To export the file, click the ![](/files/LzY0xWZwX1BZ1C7vWF2z) button or simply drag the file out of the chat window.

## Generated Fragments

All created files are available in the Generated Fragments window. To open this window, click the <img src="/files/VmkH6lWgSUglpKjvdvot" alt="" data-size="original"> button in the top right corner of the chat window.
